Our glassblowing (lampworking) experiences are great for beginners and are for 2 people -  (minimum age 18). Each experience lasts 2 hours and David only tutors 2 people at a time to ensure that you have the a highest quality glassblowing experience. Our experiences are the perfect opportunity to try something you've always wanted to or something you've never thought of before.

We will be hosting the experiences on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

What is lampwoking?......

The term glassblowing covers many aspects of glasswork, kiln work, fusing, slumping are but a few examples,  the glasswork you will be doing on this experience is known as lampworking, this is the term used to describe glass that is heated and manipulated using a oxygen and propane torch.

What can I expect... 

David (sometimes known as the Grumpy Glassblower,) a glassblower with over 38 years of lampworking experience, will welcome you and give you a safety talk, you'll then be guided through techniques including cutting, fire poilishing, colouring, sculpting and blowing the glass. After he has shown you each piece, - drinking straws, drinks stirrers, a pendant and blown baubles, it'll be your turn. 

All of the pieces you create during your experience will be ready for you to take home at the end.

Whats included...

All safety equipment and everything else you need for lampworking.
Tea, coffee and water.

What to wear....

Fully closed shoes and practical clothing - long trousers natural fibres where possible.

What to bring....

Yourself, a smile and a sense of adventure.

What does it cost ?.....

Now the boring, but necessary bit….

David reserves the right to refuse to admit any person who in his opinion is not in a condition to safely undertake the course. We also reserve the right to terminate a course, or exclude an individual, for any improper or unacceptable behaviour.Should this be the case, no fees will be refunded.

For health and safety reasons only the participants in the activity are permitted in the experience studio - unfortunatly this must inclued infants and pets.

Please let David know if you have any medical conditions relevent to the experience.

Postponement: We reserve the right to postpone, or cancel the date of courses should it become necessary and for whatever reason. Participants  will be notified as soon as possible and alternative dates will be arranged or a full refund given.
